Community Solar for NYSEG Customers

Solstice’s new community solar offering brings affordable solar to NYSEG customers in Upstate New York — no rooftop installation required.

NORWICH, NY — A new community solar farm in Norwich, New York will bring discounted clean energy to approximately 1,000 NYSEG customers. Solstice, a Boston-based community solar company, offers 10% electric bill savings to NYSEG customers who subscribe to a share of the Norwich Solar Farm.

This offer is available to homeowners, renters, and businesses in NYSEG’s utility zone, which covers about 40% of Upstate New York. Once completed, the Norwich Solar Farm is expected to have a capacity of 7.28 MW.

Through a subscription-based model, community solar makes clean energy accessible to renters, apartment-dwellers and those who are unable to put solar panels on their rooftops. Residents who enroll in community solar are allocated a portion of a solar farm based on their annual electricity usage and receive bill credits for the electricity their solar panels produce on their utility bills.
